Linux/Unix Basics for HPC

October 9, 2014
9:00am - 12:00pm
ROC 1.900

This class teaches beginning and intermediate Linux skills. The class features hands-on exercises to reinforce the learned material. While this course is a good preparation for using the HPC and visualization resources, it can be taken without a TACC account. In the latter case, the student needs an Apple or Linux computer, or a Windows machine with Cygwin or (preferred) VirtualBox with a Linux installation such as Fedora. The second half of the course covers shell scripting, for which the student needs to have command of a Linux-based text editor, such as vi, emacs, or nano.
